FILfest 2016: Social Enterprises for the Planet. Call for participation

This year the FILfest resumes its vocation for social entrepreneurship, in order to understand what models may better respond to the challenges of collective global wellbeing; a result that will be achieved by twinning the Festival with the project “For a Better Tomorrow: Social Enterprises on the Move” (FAB-MOVE), funded by the EU Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE). In collaboration with researchers and practitioners from different countries around the world, we want to highlight how social enterprises can successfully overcome crucial planetary challenges such as ecological renovation, natural resources management, disaster risk reduction, climate change, migratory flows… Can social enterprises meet local and global needs in order to improve social cohesion and human wellbeing in the future? During the Festival practitioners, active citizens, researchers, social movements, educators, art-performers and enlightened administrators will exchange visions, stories, and best practices for strengthening forms of development that are more endogenous, concerted and integrated, both at regional and global levels.

We are happy to support the participation of all the social enterprises that are particularly sensitive to the issue of Earth’s sustainability, that simultaneously improve human well- being and social equity, and significantly reduce environmental risks and ecological scarcities. The FILfest 2016 will be a good opportunity for “green” social entrepreneurs who want to respond to the challenges we are all facing, to ensure a better future for the planet.

This call is open to social enterprises that promote innovative ideas in fields such as social agriculture, responsible consumption, recycling, and development of alternative ways for managing natural resources, waste, climate change and disaster risks. For the social enterprises participating in the FAB-MOVE network, there are 4 grants. The grant will cover travel and living costs for 4 European social entrepreneurs who wish to participate in the two-day Festival in Catania. However we are happy to facilitate the participation also of social enterprises from different areas, proposing logistical support in Catania and good contacts in loco.  Deadline for applications is 30 July 2016. All proposals must be submitted through our online system here.
