EuroSouth-HUB is a cross-border cooperation project, financed by the Operational Programme Italy-Malta 2007-2013, aimed at creating physical and virtual spaces for growth and development of social projects and enterprises.
EuroSouth-HUB had the objective of creating a centre for research, aggregation, services and incubation of projects and social enterprises, based on what has already been achieved by the worldwide network of Impact Hub in over 80 cities on five continents. In 2010, there were only four similar spaces in the Mediterranean basin, by 2016 there were already eight.
The idea of creating a HUB space in Ortigia, (Siracusa) with an antenna in Lampedusa and a double virtual space on the web (one for Malta and the other to connect Siracusa, Malta and Ortigia), responded to the need to accompany the promotion and cultural, social and entrepreneurial upgrading of the human heritage present in this small, central and significant portion of the Mediterranean.
